Armenian Genocide to be taught in Sweden schools

Swedish MP Hans Linde will table a motion in his country’s parliament, and with respect to teaching Armenian Genocide courses in Swedish schools.

Linde, who was in Armenia to participate in the Genocide Centennial commemorations, told about the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He noted that by being in Armenia, he had discovered a lot of new facts and acquired knowledge about the Armenian Genocide.

Linde added, however, that the matter is not solely genocide recognition, but the respective knowledge. Hence, he will motion that the Armenian Genocide topic is taught not solely in Sweden, but in all schools in European Union (EU) countries, just as the Jewish Holocaust is taught.

The Swedish MP also expressed the hope that Turkey will one day recognize the Armenian Genocide, and they will see Armenia and Turkey in the EU.

To note, the two-day International Social and Political Global Forum against the Crime of Genocide was held in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, it was devoted to the Armenian Genocide Centennial, and about 500 participants from around the world took part in this event.
