Australian-Armenian Gladys Berejiklian appointed treasurer of New South Wales, Australia

Australian-Armenian Gladys Berejiklian has become the first woman treasurer of New South Wales. The state budget of New South Wales ($70 billion Australian Dollars) will be under her supervision.

Born in 1970 in Sydney, Australian-Armenian political figure Gladys Berejiklian used to be the Minister for Transport of New South Wales. She is the vice-chairwoman of the Liberal Party of New South Wales.

New South Wales’ capital city is Sydney, which is also the Australia’s most populous city. In March 2014, the estimated population of New South Wales was 7.5 million, making it Australia’s most populous state in Australia.
