One of the most powerful and distressing moments of one’s life is the loss of a dear friend. The End of the Night, a recent short drama, tracks the anguish of Jimmy (the main character), a young adult who loses his best friend to a tragic accident and is confronted with a haunted car that compounds his affliction. A nominee for the 2018 award of Best Canadian Short Film, this drama has been selected into the Fantasia International Film Festival, an annual film festival considered one the largest and most influential in North America.
The End of the Night was directed by Tavit Melikian, who received his elementary education at the Armenian Ecole Sourp Hagop in Montreal. After graduating high school at Ecole Pasteur, he went on to study in Cinema and Communications at Dawson College, before studying Film Production at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. Mr. Melikian is currently working on his second short film, entitled “The Order of Things to Come”. Meanwhile, the screening of the End of the Night, his first short film, will take place at 3 pm on July 22 at the Cinémathèque québécoise in Montreal.
