On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, AGBU was honored to host a meeting with His Excellency Andrew Turner, Ambassador-designate of Canada to the Republic of Armenia at the AGBU Center in Montreal.
Representatives of Canadian Armenian community organizations present at the meeting pointed to potential cooperation in the areas of education, information technology, trade and defence, as well as transfer of expertise in civic engagement and democratic reforms, all aimed at developing strong bilateral relations between Canada and Armenia.
Those present congratulated Mr. Turner on his appointment as Canada’s first Resident Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia, and highlighted the important role that organizations and individuals of the Canadian Armenian community have played, over the past three decades, in achieving this diplomatic achievement.
The current humanitarian crisis caused by the genocidal regime in Azerbaijan, which has led to the forced displacement of more than 100,000 Armenians in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, was discussed, as well as the urgent need to provide a large humanitarian aid package.
