Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan on Tuesday received Chinese Ambassador Tian Erlong to discuss the perspectives of bilateral economic cooperation, reports the Government’s press service.
Highly appreciating the consistently developing partnership, the chief of Armenia’s cabinet highlighted the country’s interest in a more active and expanded collaboration with Chinese investors, and the advantages of the country’s business atmosphere.
“I am confident that our joint work will give a new impetus to the Chinese capital’s presence in our economy,” he told the guest.
The ambassador agreed that Armenia’s 2017 economic growth allows more for expanding more actively the developing economic dialogue. “We have a good potential to develop the bilateral cooperation. The trade turnover between our countries increased by 34.5% in January-November 2017 compared to the same period of 2016. That promoted the positive dynamics in the bilateral ties, which have become very active,” he said, expressing the Chinese government’s interest in developing and deepening the cooperation with Armenia.
The premier said they allocated $15 million for the construction of a Chinese school in the country, promising further support to a project aiming to enrich the Ambulance Service’s motor car park.
The sides also discussed possible joint projects in the field of agriculture, IT industries, highway development and tourism.
