MOSCOW. – Russia will hand to Armenia the stolen painting of Mikhail Vrubel “Demon and Angel with Tamara’s Soul.”
President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said the aforementioned at a briefing held in Moscow on Wednesday, noting that the stolen painting was found thanks to the efforts of the competent Russian authorities. According to him, at the meeting following the briefing, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated about the readiness of the Russian side to return the painting to Armenia.
The painting “Demon and Angel with Tamara’s Soul” (1981) is an illustration to Mikhail Lermontov’s poem “Demon.” Prior to being stolen, it was kept at the Museum of Russian Art in Yerevan.
