Atom Egoyan: We need to educate Armenia’s citizens to keep their vote

We need to be able to educate the citizens of Armenia so that they keep their vote during the parliamentary election, renowned Canadian-Armenian filmmaker Atom Egoyan said at a press conference on Monday.

Egoyan reflected on their “Justice Within Armenia” initiative, whereby Diaspora Armenians will conduct an observation mission during this election which is slated for next April.

He said Diaspora Armenians need to become aware of their respective responsibilities and part, and be able to help educate the citizens of Armenia that they vote properly.

The renowned filmmaker added, however, that these citizens must be willing to be educated toward voting properly and keeping their vote.

In Atom Egoyan’s words, the events that occurred following an armed group’s take over of a police station in capital city of Yerevan in July were a call to everyone that they must be united.

He said Diaspora Armenians want to show that they stand ready to be actively engaged, and this is a very important moment.
