The Human Rights Defender’s Office is going to equip the penitentiary institutions across Armenia with special monitoring devices to rule out torture and inhuman and degrading treatment against inmates.
The equipment, including special devices to test air temperature, humidity, light, space and surface, has been received as assistance by Penal Reforms International, according to an official press release.
It is expected to help the ombudsman ensure a more effective control over the national mechanisms towards preventing torture.
