Human rights activist Ruben Melikyan reacted to an announcement of the referendum on constitutional amendments on his Facebook.
“I strongly disagree with the statement that the president had no other option but to sign the decree. He had, but he chose the worst,” he said. “It is a fact that the constitutional order is seriously violated in our country.”
“Whether de facto or through a referendum, the broken constitutional order will one day be restored,” Melikyan added.
Armenian President Armen Sarkissian signed a decree on a referendum on constitutional amendments.
Thus, the referendum is scheduled for April 5, 2020.
