Lavrov: Karabakh conflict can be resolved only through talks

The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can be resolved only through talks, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Tuesday, speaking before the students of Kant Baltic Federal University, TASS reports.

“Only agreeing—there is no other option. The agreements reached during the lengthy period of the negotiation process, which took different forms, were often close—even at arm’s length—but then some instinct of distrust worked out from one side or another. Nevertheless, the work should be continued,” Lavrov said.

The Russian FM also stressed that despite the fact that a set of principles has already been developed during the talks, “it is necessary to agree on a number of very complex details, which related to very delicate issues, including inter-political ones.”

“But we don’t stop our endeavors. As you know, Russia along with US and France is the co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, within the framework of which we regularly meet with the sides. And within the framework of this troika we will further continue thinking on how to overcome small but very serious details, which have not yet been agreed upon,” Lavrov concluded.
