Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan today received the delegation led by US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Erika Olson, including Deputy Assistant Administrator in the Bureau for Europe and Eurasia at USAID Alexander Sokolowski and other officials, and among the attendees was US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Lynne Tracy, the press service of the Government of Armenia reported.
Greeting the guests, the Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the assistance that the US has provided to Armenia, presented the main issues facing Armenia in the post-war period and, in this context, underscored the fact that Armenia succeeded in maintaining macroeconomic stability, in spite of the existing challenges.
The interlocutors stressed the importance of the fight against corruption and highly appreciated the effective cooperation with the USAID.
Touching upon the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the role of the Co-Chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group and attached importance to the intensification of negotiations within the scope of the Chairmanship. Grigoryan also considered the immediate release of Armenian prisoners of war and civilian hostages and their return to Armenia pivotal.
US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Erika Olson expressed the US government’s willingness to support the speedy settlement of the humanitarian issues in the region.
