During a more than four-hour long press conference, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan publicly asserted for the first time that Armenia recognizes Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, which is a very important first step. Ambassador Erin Elizabeth McKee, the Assistant Administrator for the Bureau of Europe and Eurasia of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), stated this at the hearing of the Committee on Foreign Relations of the US House of Representatives, the RFE/RL Armenian Service reports.
This assertion is very inclusive, said McKee, speaking about Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.
The American diplomat noted that they were waiting for Azerbaijan’s response, but added that this was progress.
